July 2009 - Eighteen members of The Rising Stars Girls Competitive Gymnastics team levels 2 through 8 have returned from the 2009 AAU Gymnastics National Championship meet with 70 medals. We have eight gymnasts who won a combined 12 gold medals, including two All-Around National Champions.
The gold medalists were Haley Szabo on bars, floor and the All-Around; Dianna Sierra on beam and floor; Hannah Willmott on floor and the All-Around; Caroline Lord on vault; Taylor Bethmann and Lindsay Lord on bars; and Elizabeth Willmott and Ashley Grandovic on floor.
We also have nine silver medalists: Hannah Willmott on vault, bars and beam; Elizabeth Willmott, Haley Szabo and Ashley Grandovic on vault; Emma Paschke and Sydney MacNeill on beam; Caroline Lord on floor; and Lindsay Lord and Dianna Sierra in the All-Around
Our gymnasts also earned sixteen bronze medals: Emma Paschke on bars, floor and the All-Around; Lindsay Lord on vault, beam and floor; Ashley Grandovic on bars and All-Around; Christina Fedele on bars and floor; Mikaela MacNeill and Dianna Sierra on vault; Jasmyne Merhten on bars; Haley Szabo on beam; and Deanna Paschke and Jade Sievers on floor.
Fifteen of our 18 competitors placed in the top three on at least one event!
The team also brought home 19 copper medals for placing in the top half +1 of the four individual events, and another 12 copper medals for the All-Around. There were also ten of the girls that earned a 9.50 or above on at least one event – and all of the girls earned at least one score above a 9.0!
